Food Allergy Center

Oral immunotherapy that builds tolerance one small dose at a time

Our Food Allergy Center, led by pediatric allergist Dr. Ingrid Lindqvist, treats food allergy with oral immunotherapy (OIT). Your child eats a carefully measured, slowly increasing amount of the food every day, with each step up done in our clinic. The goal is protection from accidental bites, and for some families, much more.

Allergy and asthma care in Arlington, Keller and Mansfield

Treatment that looks for the cause, not just the next refill

Antihistamines and inhalers have their place. But if you have been taking them every spring and fall for years, it is worth knowing what you actually react to. At Aller-Vista, our board-certified allergists test first, explain what the results mean for your family, and build a plan that can reduce how much medicine you need over time.

  • Seasonal and indoor allergies
  • Asthma and chronic cough
  • Eczema, hives and contact rashes
  • Food allergies, including OIT

Our team speaks your language. Many of our providers and front desk staff are bilingual, so you can talk through symptoms and results in the language you are most comfortable with.

About Aller-Vista

Testing and treatment

Accurate testing first. Then immunotherapy that can calm your immune system’s response over time, with medicines to control symptoms along the way.

All treatments

Allergy testing

Skin prick, blood, patch and breathing tests that show what is behind your sneezing, rash, cough or food reactions. Skin test results are ready in about 15 to 20 minutes.

Allergy shots

A custom mix of the allergens you react to, given as regular injections that build tolerance over time. Walk in during shot hours at any of our three DFW clinics, no appointment needed.

Sublingual drops

Needle-free immunotherapy you take at home. A few drops under the tongue each day build tolerance to pollen, dust mites and pets, with far fewer trips to the clinic.

Oral immunotherapy

Tiny, carefully increasing daily doses of a food allergen that raise the amount it takes to cause a reaction. Our Food Allergy Center offers OIT for peanut, tree nuts, milk, egg, wheat and sesame.

What’s in the air around Dallas–Fort Worth

North Texas has a pollen season almost every month of the year. If your symptoms follow the calendar, testing can tell us which of these is behind them.

Cedar fever

Mountain cedar pollen blows north from the Hill Country in December and January and hits even people who never had allergies before.

Spring overlap

Trees and grasses overlap from March to May, which is why spring is the hardest stretch for many patients.

Time to start shots

Immunotherapy takes months to build up. Starting in summer means you are better protected by ragweed and cedar season.

How your first visit works

Plan on 60 to 90 minutes. Most patients leave with test results and a written plan the same day.

  1. Book and check benefits

Request a time online or call. We verify your insurance and send a short history form.

  2. Pause antihistamines

Stop allergy pills 5 to 7 days before skin testing. Keep taking asthma controllers.

  3. Exam and testing

Your provider reviews your history and runs only the tests that fit your symptoms. Skin results take about 20 minutes.

  4. Leave with a plan

We go over every result with you and agree on next steps, from medicines to shots, drops or OIT.

What patients tell us

A few words from families we care for in Arlington, Keller and Mansfield. Shared with permission.

Our son started peanut OIT with Dr. Lindqvist last year. Every up-dose day the nurses explained exactly what to watch for, and we always had a number to call after hours. He just passed his maintenance challenge and we cried in the parking lot.

Brooke L.Parent of a food allergy patient, Arlington

Tomás did my testing and walked me through the results in Spanish so my mom could follow along. Two years into shots and I made it through cedar season without living on antihistamines.

Esteban R.Allergy shots patient, Mansfield

Dr. Saadeh listened to the whole story instead of handing me another inhaler. The breathing test explained a lot. Being able to talk through things in Arabic with the front desk made my parents comfortable too.

Noor A.Asthma patient, Arlington

Our daughter’s eczema had been bad since she was a baby. Dr. Nwosu found a contact allergy nobody had tested for and gave us a plan we could actually follow. Her skin has not looked this good in years.

Kelsey T.Parent of an eczema patient, Keller

I travel for work and could never keep up with shots. Drops fit my schedule. The team was upfront about the cost and what insurance would and wouldn’t pay before I started.

Grant H.Sublingual drops patient, Keller

I had coughed for most of a year. Lucía and Dr. Nwosu worked out it was a mix of postnasal drip and asthma. Three months later I can get through a church service without leaving the room.
